April 2005; We are having a wet spring here
in Northern California. Every time I think we can spray for
mildew it starts to rain! The vines have about 12"+ of
growth on them now and we should be into the third round of
spraying, yet I have only managed one so far.
Just blended my new Claret and it tastes great right out of
the barrel! Has enough tannin to satisfy any wine nerd &
just the right level of acid to remain fresh & crisp for
long term ageing. Nice balance. When will it be ready?? I think
early Fall, say about October. It is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon
& Cabernot Franc. Hope to make this a permanent part of
my products. Have also been thinking about adding a Rose and/or
a cheaper Red Table Wine, something in the $10. range. It would
go well at the Farmers Markets. Anyone have any great ideas??
